The masterplan comprises of 30,000sq.m of marine engineering facilities, including research, offices, warehousing medical and manufacturing activities. There will also be provision for staff accommodation and crucial ecological and landscape enhancements on the 20.7 hectare site, arranged around the 600m long, 100m Wide and 80m deep fresh water reservoir.
Sitting against a backdrop of breathtaking natural vistas over the River Severn and beyond, the campus buildings will be nestled comfortably in the landscape, enhancing the former industrial site to create a beautiful woodland campus, celebrating the blurring of nature with the existing human made terrain. The project is focused on creating an inclusive, accessible environment that allows everyone to confidently and independently enjoy the site.
The proposals include an improved entry sequence and makes use of communal electric vehicles and bicycles, facilitating employee and visitor transport while reducing noise and focusing on much-needed landscape enhancements. Key links to the Wye Valley Greenway are maintained to improve connections to the local community initiatives.

“We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with DEEP on this unique site, where the finished buildings will sit in dialogue with each other and the landscape. We are very excited to be involved in the Masterplan and to watch the Sentinel system develop. It will be fantastic to witness the unlocking of research opportunities that have never been possible before.”
